About the site

In this uncertain time of the internet that we're in, with plenty important pages and posts disappearing, while the sites that survive turning blander and more bloated, if not outright toxic, we've decided to create an archival page that will stand the test of time, at least as long as Neocities exists and its code runs.

Danganronpa in the english sphere has had a tumultuous history, starting from as pieced together scrapbook on the SomethingAwful forums, to mistranslations or weak translations in the official ports, and even its general reputation and reception in its own fandom. For a piece of media as popular and defining as Danganronpa, there's actually been pretty little archival upkeep done for it; more times than I can count have I seen the same piece of trivia or translation get uncovered and passed around, then slowly die down, and then repeat, because the second revival of its spread has either "recovered" the trivia from first principles or has heard of it as a fandom urban legend, with no specific source. I have seen countless such pieces of trivia enact this lifecycle, from the regular surface level, such as name meanings, to actual corruptions of the trivia, such as even more egregious or "wistful" mistranslations. The wheel gets invented again and again, but the car never gets built, much less the road. So, what is to be done?

This site is an attempt to gather as many analysis, theories and other franchise material as possible in one place, with the name of each contributor right next to it. To put it simply, it's an eager attempt to get the conversation moving along a bit further than the misattributions, mistranslations and regurgitations that circle the fandom ever since the first game's translation. Admittedly, a lot of people will scoff at the attempt for the fact that the piece of media I'm waxing poetically about preserving is Danganronpa , but have they tried coding a website?

Of course, Danganronpa is as interesting for its positive impact as it is for its negative, and this is precisely a subject we want to tackle with what we include in here. Stay tuned, and you want to perhaps contribute something, get in touch with us by clicking the links below.

Despairsyndromeworld

You can call me death, despair, syndrome and/or despairsyndromeworld. I'm also a university student and am interested in art, but that's about it for outside interests. This site is a passion project and its eternally unfinished nature will give me something to chew on in the longterm and better my skills, as long as exams are kept away, very far away that is.

My name is Marcel (he/him) I live in Venezuela and I'm currently majoring in literature. I'm interested in queer readings and criticism, and that's often reflected in my work. My analysis is mostly focused in SDR2 and specially in Hinata, Komaeda and Nanami. While I believe they form the core of SDR2's story, I'm also interested in other characthers and in Danganronpa as a whole, since I deeply believe that a work can only be understood taking into consideration all of its parts.
